FRAGOL is your reliable partner for heat transfer fluid analysis and a leader in the development of new heat transfer fluids tailored to our customers' individual needs. Our in-house pilot plant bridges the gap between research and industrial production. Here, we test and optimize newly developed heat transfer fluids under realistic conditions on a larger scale before they are deployed at our customers' facilities.
In this way, we can minimize risks, maximize efficiency, and ensure the safety and cost-effectiveness of our customers' production processes. Our technical center is a crucial quality factor in this process.
Patented analytics and technology centre
As a user, you need to know that you are using high quality products with proven performance. The patented tempering block in our technical centre is a tool for precise temperature control and monitoring. It allows us to precisely control physico-chemical processes such as decomposition reactions in heat transfer fluids or the setting of a vapour pressure.
On the one hand, we test the quality of heat transfer fluids in standardised, static test procedures according to DIN 51528. In addition to thermostability (decomposition behaviour at high temperatures), we also determine other parameters required for use as a heat transfer fluid, such as viscosity, density, thermal conductivity, boiling point and flash point.
We also test the long-term stability of heat transfer fluids in our technical centre using sophisticated and complex procedures. In this way, we achieve test results that are very close to our customers' real-world operating conditions.
Research
We think even further. That's why FRAGOL is driving innovations that bring new benefits to many customers. For example: How do coolant fluids behave over the long term? What changes in their material properties can be observed? On the other end of the temperature scale, we reach exceptionally high temperatures of up to 450 °C in our tempering block. This enables us, for example, to determine how the vapor pressure of heat transfer fluids changes over the long term under the corresponding conditions.
For a greener Future
We are working to develop sustainable heat transfer fluids. Our focus is on reducing CO2 emissions in the production process, replacing fossil raw materials and reducing toxicological properties. We are developing glycol-based refrigerants made entirely from vegetable waste. The key to this technology is corn-based fermentation to produce the raw material monopropylene glycol (MPG). We also use targeted additives to give our glycol products outstanding properties, such as effective corrosion protection, including HT1 food-grade approval. Our goal: environmentally friendly, high-performance solutions for a greener future.
Definition of techical standards
FRAGOL is known and sought after throughout the industry for its expertise. Our employees actively contribute to the creation of safe, efficient and sustainable solutions. To this end, we are heavily involved in standardisation committees as experts and chairmen. We want to help ensure that technical standards and norms reflect the current needs of science, industry and society.
